Venetian festival Ludwigsburg

Attractions

The Venetian Festival in Ludwigsburg, is going to be celebrated in a particularly large fashion in 2018. There are 2 anniversaries happening in 2018: 250 years historic and 25 years of revived Venetian Festival. The Festival in Ludwigsburg is a colorful and soaring celebration of life and high spirits: mysterious masks, colorful dazzling costumes and a captivating artistic program with acrobats, music, street entertainment, fire shows, comedy and dance turn the Ludwigsburg market square into a fantastic, magical kingdom every two years. Additionally, to the double anniversary, the program impresses with a masquerade ball in the royal residence.

Württemberg’s Duke Carl Eugen is the one to thank for the Venetian festival. He fell in love with Venetian masquerade festivals during a trip to Italy and decided to import those celebrations to his residence in 1768.
