Germans love a good party, and even more so when great food is involved. This weekend the Schwabengarten in Leinfelden is hosting a special party. A party to celebrate all that makes America great and to show some appreciation to our American friends!

You may wonder what Germans consider typical American and what needs to be part of an American party to make it awesome.

We were wondering the same, so I called up the Schwabengarten and talked to the owner David Blanco del Rio. I have done quite a few interviews so far and I have to say, it was an absolute pleasure chatting with David. Rarely you get to talk to someone that has so much passion for what they are planning. David was more then happy to fill me in on the program.

The Schwabengarten is really working their magic this time to make your experience an authentic one. Starting with the decorations, even the tables are decked out in red, white and blue. The Star-Spangled banner is going to be there to represent the free spirit of our friends overseas. David was a tiny bit disappointed that not all his decoration plans had worked out, but I am rooting for him to make it happen next year… so be sure to check back for the coming year. The party is starting Friday Sept 7th going on till Sunday Sept 9th. Live music starts at 6pm on Friday and Saturday and at 3pm on Sunday.

The Schwabengarten put a lot of effort to come up with an awesome program for the weekend. The weekend sets off Friday at 6pm with the “bring it home boys” a cover band that will rock all night with the classics from the 70’s, 80’s and today. A fun band that is guaranteed to make you want to boogie all night long. The Local square dance club is also stopping by to show off their skills and get ya’ll moving to the groove.

Saturday is a special day for all fans of culinary specialties, as Salvatore Abastante (Europe’s first meat sommelier) is showing off his skills. He will be preparing his famous Tomahawk steaks that weigh in at up to 3 lbs.! Salvatore will be ready for some proper grilling at 4pm. David made sure to add that the steaks are available as a whole or by piece if you can’t manage to eat a whole steak on your own. Since the Tomahawk steaks are as thick as a rib, eating a whole one can be a challenge. At 6pm the live music will be starting. On Saturday, the Schwabengarten will be hosting the “Ponycars”, a Rock’n’Roll group that started as a School band and has grown into a powerful, passionate group of performers with over 200 concerts under their belts.

The cheerleaders from the Stuttgart Scorpions are also going to stop by for a breathtaking show.

On Sunday the Schwabengarten is starting off earlier, the live music is beginning at 3pm. And if you are from the Midwest, this will be the day you shouldn’t miss. The “Pete Stone Band” is playing until 8pm. Pete has been dubbed the “Voice of country music” by the German press and knows all the classics by heart. So, bring your cowboy boots! Dancing is encouraged.

One of the things America is best known for, is their barbeques and smoked meats. The Schwabengarden is making sure to be featuring all of your favorites, like burgers, wings, pulled pork and spare ribs. For your sweet tooth there will be ice cream and they are setting up a pop corn machine.

Even the little ones will be entertained, with bull riding and the ever-popular playground at the Schwabengarten.

This weekend, David’s beer garden will transform into the 51st state of the good ol’ USA, so head on over for a taste of home. David put a lot of emphasis on how important his American customers are to him. This is a thank you for them and hopefully a little bit of home for the time being. It will be the perfect ending to a great summer!

CYA at the Schwabengarten!!
